Analysis of nature of disaster
Each of the three countries, Sudan (Darfur), Chad and the Central African Republic (CAR) are affected by their own internal armed conflicts. It is clear that some spill-over of these internal armed conflicts into neighbouring countries has contributed to further destabilisation. The situation is extremely complex and multi-layered.
There are continuous movements of people internally within the three countries as well as over the borders into neighbouring countries. Due to increasing insecurity and banditry, access to conflict affected communities by humanitarian organisations is very challenging.
