What is your DEC Appeal disasters response programme seeking to achieve?
The overall program goal is to contribute to reduction of mortality and morbidity and improve the well being and health status of 45,000 Children, Women and Adolescent adults, displaced people and host community in Kass, and Markhurdi in South Darfur.
Darfur Main Objectives:
- Improve access to Primary Health Care (PHC) facilities by the end of the health and nutrition project.
- Improve nutritional status of 1,500 malnourished children under 5,500 pregnant and lactating mothers and other vulnerable groups
- Improve access to portable water and sanitation facilities for 10,000 displaced people in Kass camp
15,000 households will benefit from the following activities:
- Construction of temporary clinic in Kass Camp and support to Primary Health Care services in Markhurdi
- Provision of drugs and supplies and medical equipment
- Recruit and provide health staff working with the local government
- Training of health workers in Integrated Management of Childhood illnesses
- Improve vaccination cover to children
- Carry out mobile outreach services for nomadic community
- Train staff in management of moderate and severe malnutrition
- Nutrition, Water and Sanitation in Kass camp
- Maintenance of water points
- Repair of water point networks. Tool kits and training provided to selected people in camps to maintain water systems
- Supply of jerry cans for safe storage of clean water
- Supply and display of pictorial materials on best practices in camps
- Provision of bath and laundry soaps and construction of laundry washing facilities in camp
- Construction and maintenance of latrines and refuse pits
- Promote and improve community involvement in solid waste management practices
