What is your DEC Appeal disasters response programme seeking to achieve?

  • To improve health and well-being of the target population, focusing on the most vulnerable households, in South and West Darfur (Beida Locality, Wadi Salih, Ed Daein and Adilla)

In Darfur, Sudan: Water and Sanitation, Health and Nutrition

  • Improve access to reliable and safe water sources and hygienic sanitation facilities through rehabilitated water points, operation and maintenance support of new and existing structures.
  • Bore hole construction and rehabilitation of 2 Water Points
  • Complete of 36 municipal latrines and latrines at 8 activity centres benefiting 1200 households
  • Increased capacity building of MOH (Ministry of health) with 4 nutritionists benefiting 300 households
  • Improvement to services offered by CTC (Community Therapeutic Centre) in the form of additional medicines to treat 500 children
  • Capacity building of local partner SUDO in Ed Daein
  • 200 T shirts and promotional posters for HIV/Aids and other health promotion activities
  • 400 households to benefit
  • Translation of health promotion manual into Arabic
  • 5 facilitators reaching an extra 500 children in Ed Daein
  • Train 200 youths in HIV/AIDS messages with 1000 households benefiting
