BT

BT manages the network and telephones. It provides an online giving donation platform, a call centre and volunteers, as well as fundraising across the business. BT has procedures in place, enabling immediate response to an appeal.

The response from BT during the tsunami demonstrated how the processes were in place. Despite the tragic event taking place on Boxing Day we were able to respond immediately.

Being part of our network benefits BT as it demonstrates how the company can use technology and expertise to add real value and how it can support society's most needy. It also means that BT, as an organisation, does not have to make a decision about which emergency appeals to support because the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) does this via its member agencies.

BT has created a long-term partnership with the DEC, and is constantly building on that partnership, looking at ways to add value. They have, for example, hosted the DEC's AGM and press events.
