DEC Mission statement
The Disasters Emergency Committee unites the leading independent humanitarian agencies in the UK in their efforts to maximise income through cost-effective media-based appeals to finance humanitarian relief for major disasters overseas.
We will:
- Ensure that the humanitarian imperative comes above everything
- Maximise charitable donations from UK companies and the UK public in response to disasters overseas
- Unite the UK’s leading independent humanitarian agencies in their efforts to mount an effective, timely humanitarian response to those least able to withstand such disasters
- Ensure that all funds are used in an accountable, transparent manner
- Facilitate agency cooperation, coordination and communication
- Raise standards in the implementation of humanitarian responses.
