Why there is no DEC appeal for Cumbria

The Disasters Emergency Committee brings together the UK’s biggest overseas aid agencies to respond to emergencies in the world’s poorest countries when a national government’s ability to cope has been overwhelmed.

The response to emergencies in the UK such as the one in Cumbria is led by the emergency services and other government bodies. The DEC charity most involved in these situations is the British Red Cross which acts to support the response of government agencies and communities.
