DIRECTOR of Fundraising and Marketing

The role of Director of Fundraising and Marketing at the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) affords a set of opportunities and challenges which are not replicated in other fundraising positions. This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious and motivated fundraiser, with excellent leadership skills and an exceptional track record, to inspire and mobilise a generous nation with the desire to help those affected by the world’s most terrible disasters. 

The DEC brings 13 leading UK humanitarian aid agencies together in times of crisis.   

When a major humanitarian emergency strikes we mobilise unique partnerships, and the combined expertise of our member charities, resulting in wide-reaching national appeals. By working together we can raise more money, more cost effectively to protect lives and rebuild shattered communities. 

In 2017 we had 3 live appeals – responded to complex crises in Yemen and East Africa and helped the Rohingya people fleeing Myanmar. Our fundraising appeals raised £112 million and already funds are directly supporting 3.3 million people via our member agencies. 

We are now seeking an experienced fundraising professional to lead and grow all our income generation activities at the DEC. Reporting to the CEO and working collaboratively across teams and member charities, you will drive strategy and help increase income and engagement. 

This key role leads on fundraising and marketing, working closely with the communications team to integrate activities. As the sector expert you will have responsibility for Secretariat fundraising and marketing across all audience segments. 

We are seeking a fundraising leader with a proven track record in developing successful income generation strategies, and experience of managing high-profile fundraising campaigns (online and offline) especially through audience specific approaches. You will have secured and managed strategic partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders (including corporate and philanthropy partnerships).
