Although government forces declared victory over the city of Mosul on 8 July, the humanitarian situation remains dire for thousands of people.
More than 709,000 people have fled their homes and remain displaced.  Almost every single building in the Old City has either been partially or totally reduced to rubble.  People have lost everything and are desperately in need of shelter, food, health care, emergency supplies, water and sanitation. It is estimated that 10% of children coming out of Western Mosul are suffering with acute malnutrition.
The level of trauma experienced from this brutal conflict is extremely high. Ensuring both children and adults now receive the specialized treatment they need is a high priority.
