DEC statement on Hurricane Matthew



Almost two weeks after Hurricane Matthew devastated Haiti, 1.4 million people need humanitarian aid. DEC member agencies are working around the clock to reach people with food, water and shelter materials, as well as hygiene kits and water purification tablets in an urgent effort to prevent the spread of cholera.
Some of the worst-hit parts of the country can still only be reached by air or sea but many of our agencies had already pre-positioned stock in the affected area, while others have flown in essential supplies such as tarpaulins, emergency shelter kits, mosquito nets, kitchen sets and jerry cans.
