DEC thanks International Aid Workers

20/08/2009

The DEC Secretariat would like to extend its thanks and appreciation to all international aid workers in honour of the UN marking yesterday the first ever Humanitarian Day. The DEC relies on aid workers on the ground working for Member Agencies delivering aid. DEC Chief Executive, Brendan Gormley recently said in an interview with the Times that aid workers face grave dangers in disaster zones and that they are very much on the frontlines. DEC appeals are launched after careful consideration of the safety of aid workers and the operating conditions on the ground. Today, the DEC takes an opportunity to thank once again all the aid workers who have successfully channelled the British public’s generosity to help those affected in disasters all over the world.
