UK Storms and Flooding

Storms and flooding in the UK this winter have had a serious impact on a number of communities, causing enormous distress for those whose lives and livelihoods have been affected.  DEC member British Red Cross has been extremely active in responding to the UK floods up and down the country, alongside the UK authorities which also have significant resources and capacity in this area.
 
Most DEC member charities are experts at providing the kind of developmental and humanitarian assistance needed in the world’s poorest countries.  This is why the DEC’s remit is to launch appeals only following a major disaster in poorer countries rather than in developed nations such as the UK.
 
The DEC does not have the expertise to recommend charities involved in raising funds to support people affected by the UK floods but organisations that are collecting funds include:
