Chair of Trustees

Over our 60-year history, the DEC has responded to 77 major emergencies, collectively raising over £2.4 billion and reaching millions of people with humanitarian assistance.

As Sue Inglish prepares to step down in Spring 2025, we are seeking an exceptional individual to take on the unique role as Chair of Trustees of the DEC.

The current partnership of 15 leading UK aid charities supported by the Secretariat, and  alongside  our  media  and corporate  partners  (the  Rapid  Response  Network),  continues to be a highly respected and trusted  institution, solidly embedded in the national consciousness at times of humanitarian crisis overseas.

The DEC operates in an increasingly complex landscape as humanitarian need increases globally, technological advances continue at pace and media habits evolve. Our next Chair will share our determination to achieve our mission: to raise funds together to save, protect and rebuild the lives of the people that are impacted by major disasters overseas.

We are looking for an individual with senior executive and Chair-level experience to enable the Board to oversee the DEC in achieving its primary function of collective fundraising for humanitarian crises. Serving on the DEC Board offers a fascinating and fulfilling experience, responding to global crises with the trust of the British public.

Thank you for your interest in becoming our Chair and advancing the work of the DEC.
