Islamic Relief has been responding to emergencies for over 30 years, providing a lifeline for vulnerable communities affected by conflict and natural disasters. Our work continues long after an emergency is over: with a presence in over 40 countries worldwide, we promote sustainable economic and social development by working with local communities to rebuild after disaster and eradicate poverty, illiteracy and disease. We often work in dangerous and hard-to-reach places, where the need is usually greatest.

We believe passionately in empowering the communities we serve, to lift them out of poverty. An increasingly important part of this work is resilience projects such as community reservoirs in drought-plagued areas and raised platforms for flood-prone homes so that communities can better protect themselves before disaster strikes.

Through our advocacy and campaigning efforts we also aim to give vulnerable and marginalised communities a strong voice in pressing for policy changes that can help boost resilience and poverty alleviation.
