As the conflict in Ukraine lead to a large scale humanitarian emergency for millions of people the Disasters Emergency Committee launched an appeal to raise funds to help meet the humanitarian needs of the people most impacted in Ukraine, Romania, Poland, Moldova and Hungary.

Thanks to the generosity of the British public and support from the UK government’s Aid Match scheme, the appeal has raised over £400m. This report shows how this funding has been used by DEC members and their partners following six months of the response, from September 2022 to February 2023 (Phase 2a 6 months).

These reports contain key achievements across the five countries:

  • An overview of how DEC member charities and partner organisations have responded in Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Moldova and Hungary.

  • Challenges that DEC member charities and partner organisations have encountered, including adaptations and solutions they have come up with.

  • Details of how the DEC is working to improve the delivery of humanitarian programmes in Ukraine and the neighbouring countries.

  • Look out in the coming months.
