As the conflict in Ukraine lead to a large scale humanitarian emergency for millions of people the Disasters Emergency Committee launched an appeal to raise funds to help meet the humanitarian needs of the people affected.

Individual fundraisers, community groups, adademic institutions, employees and companies, arts organisations, trusts and foundations, celebrities and sports clubs all dedicated time and effort to raise money for the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

The DEC launched an appeal after a series of disasters in Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam in September 2009. This appeal is now closed and all funds have been spent.

The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) welcomed the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to its London offices today as it was announced that the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal had raised over £300 million.
